AstraZeneca’s Finance function is continuing its transformation journey with the objective of delivering excellence in financial operations. The Contract To Cash (“O2C”) team is highly involved to ensure progress during this transformation.
Reporting Structure:
This role reports to the O2C Global Process Delivery Director.
Role Overview:
The role of Global Banking Manager is critical within AstraZeneca and involves close collaboration with multiple marketing companies, Group treasury, and various departments such as HR and payroll. The manager will oversee global banking operations and service delivery through a network of service centres while utilizing various technology platforms. This position offers high visibility within a growing global company and includes participation on the O2C Leadership Team.
Business Area:
The role is part of a global O2C team within the Global Finance Services (GFS) function, which falls under AstraZeneca’s Global Business Services (GBS) function. The O2C team consists of two key elements: the design team responsible for global processes and the operational delivery element, where this role resides. The O2C delivery team has representation in Cambridge (UK), Warsaw (Poland), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and San Jose (Costa Rica). Support comes from Genpact operating from Delhi (India), Cluj (Romania), Lublin (Poland), and Guatemala City (Guatemala).
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage effective, efficient, and well-controlled service delivery globally.
- Oversee approximately 600 bank accounts across over 60 different banks.
- Manage inflow exceeding USD 50bn and outflow of USD 30bn annually.
- Drive operational performance to meet or exceed KPI targets.
- Identify improvement opportunities and implement changes.
- Maintain strong enterprise partnerships for delivery across Finance, IT, and wider business units.
- Support local teams with BAU activities including bank reconciliations, payment approvals, SOX controls.
- Represent Banking in monthly operating reviews to demonstrate performance.
Essential Requirements:
- Deep knowledge with a minimum of 5 years commercial experience in high volume, high value business-to-business intercompany banking within a global corporate environment.
- Experience working collaboratively with banking partners to maintain service levels.
- Ability to lead a global virtual team without direct reporting lines; influence others effectively.
- Proven track record in driving simplification, standardization, and continuous improvement across end-to-end processes.
- Strong communication skills at all organizational levels; capable stakeholder management for change agenda execution.
- Team player who can work under pressure while adhering to strict deadlines.
Operational understanding required for bank portals, SAP systems necessary for executing domestic & cross-border payments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant finance qualification such as ACCA or CIMA
- Qualification in process improvement methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma
- Experience working with Shared Service Centres or Business Process Outsourcing partners
- Excellent spoken/written English proficiency; ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels
