Overview
Performing and reporting on systems, governance and financial audits as allocated by the Audit Manager. Where appropriate, in the absence of the Audit Manager, to assist in the management of the audit service.
Responsibilities
Undertake detailed examination of systems and transactions in order to:
- Ensure financial probity
- Improve the standard of control and provision of information for management
- Identify areas where efficiency savings could be achieved
- Ensure that Council policies are being complied with
- Evaluate controls and facilitate their development and maintenance throughout the Authority.
Skills
- CCAB qualified Accountant or AAT qualification, or a recognised auditing qualification, or a university honours degree.
- Awareness of pressures and changes affecting Local Government.
- Working in a local government environment.
- Experience in an Internal Audit environment or have experience of undertaking and reporting on complex reviews in a time limited environment.
- Evidence of dealing with a wide range of clients up to senior management level.
