To execute, evaluate, deliver and manage complex engineering and/or cross functional tasks or programmes of work recognising stakeholder and customer requirements. Also to identify and implement opportunities for personal and team development to ensure that professional capability of the business and individual are maintained and improved.
The Specialist Structures Engineering (SSR) team is a specialist team of Engineers, who together provides the business with the capability to design all of the major structural elements that support the build of a nuclear submarine. This includes the design of rigs, jigs and fixtures, over a vast range of load bearing capacities, including small castings to submarine mega units. The team are regularly faced with tight deadlines requiring resolution in order to support the submarine build schedule. The team comprises a mix of experienced Mechanical, Structural and Civil Engineers.
JOB FUNCTION / CATEGORY PED
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
- Analysis of complex steel structures utilising Eurocodes, British Standards and BAE standards, to support submarine build
- Knowledge of specific regulations & requirements beyond that used within BAE Systems i.e., LOLER, codes of compliance, weld specifications, geometric tolerance
- Knowledge and experience using, and interpreting computer based analytical techniques including finite element analysis, CAD modelling and engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame)
- Knowledge of the manufacturing, assembly lifting handling installation processes
- Knowledge facility site restrictions applicable shipping handling alignment installation hull units large equipment structures
- Support towards production concept drawings layouts other technical outputs consistent contractual requirements meet target dates budget demands
- Responsibility approvals checking analysis outputs
SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree qualified either Structural Civil Mechanical Engineering structural bias
- Circa years experience relevant related environment
