Summary: The Staff Software Engineer role focuses on enhancing laboratory workflows within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and integrating it with other systems to streamline lab operations. The position requires extensive experience in software development, particularly with Java and RESTful APIs, and emphasizes collaboration within a fast-paced, agile environment. The engineer will work with complex genomic data to support clinical laboratory processes and contribute to the development of a unique software stack. This role is critical in transforming genomic data into actionable insights for patients and researchers.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with technologies and datasets related to human genomics.
Specialize in configuration and customization of LIMS to support workflows.
Understand LIMS features and propose solutions with trade-off analysis.
Leverage existing functionality to focus development on unmet needs.
Build and maintain an ecosystem of services and applications.
Integrate LIMS with other enterprise systems for seamless processes.
Analyze complex requirements and create simple designs.
Lead technical design discussions across teams.
Create design and implementation artifacts for guidance.
Code for efficiency, reusability, and scalability.
Develop and maintain automated tests for releases.
Provide operational platform support and second-tier production support.

Key Skills:

12+ years of enterprise software development experience.
8+ years of experience in Java development.
8+ years of experience with RESTful APIs using RAML, Swagger/OpenAPI.
5+ years of experience with AWS or other cloud services.
6+ years of hands-on experience with data modeling and schema development.
5+ years of experience customizing Lab Information Management Systems (LabVantage preferred).
3+ years of experience with regulated software.
Deep understanding of contemporary architectural patterns like microservices.
Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or electrical engineering.
