Role Overview
The role of the Specification Technologist is to ensure legal compliance and safety of products and packaging through the preparation, maintenance and management of specifications for raw materials, finished products and packaging materials, product labels and other printed packaging, artwork, and all related documents. The Role of Specifications Technologist reports to the Head of Technical.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, manage and maintain specifications for each product produced by Taiko Foods.
- Source, manage and maintain specifications for each ingredient, raw material, and item of packaging used by Taiko Foods; ensure accuracy and legality of all documents.
- Manage customer specific websites and database; advise on policy document updates; summarize customer questionnaires as required.
- Facilitate creation/project management of packaging artwork/label copy for new products/changes; ensure legality/accuracy during sign off procedure.
- Manage approved label database; upload data supporting finished product labelling operation.
- Liaise with NPD technologist to ensure successful completion of all NPD projects.
- Conduct supplier risk assessment/approval process; maintain approved supplier registers ensuring accuracy/up-to-date information for risk management.
- Conduct ingredients/packaging risk assessments; maintain approved ingredient/packaging registers.
- Actively support allergen management system/contribute to HACCP management system as required.
- Ensure processes/procedures/risk assessments are managed in compliance with BRC requirements.
- Ensure suppliers’ traceability is carried out annually for existing seafood/meat/packaging suppliers.
