Location: Remote with 2 days on-site every 2/3 weeks in Newcastle
Key Competencies:
- Proven experience in platform engineering, DevSecOps, or related roles.
- Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Docker Swarm).
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM Templates).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins) and version control systems (Git).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) as well as Configuration as Code "CaC" (e.g., Ansible) for automation tasks.
- Understanding of security best practices in cloud and container environments, as well as experience with security automation tools and techniques (e.g., vulnerability scanners, static and dynamic code analysis).
- Experience in security frameworks (e.g., OWASP, CIS Benchmarks) and risk management strategies.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing and maintaining the platform and infrastructure components of the DevSecOps/PlatOps environments across the Continuous Improvement Teams. This includes configuring monitoring troubleshooting underlying systems to support software development activities smooth running production applications They ensure scalability availability reliability infrastructure supporting software delivery pipelines working across teams triage resolve continuously improve platform-related issues
Purpose:
The Platform Engineer plays a pivotal role enhancing maintaining PlatOps environments Using DevSecOps Approach support efficient agile software development across Continuous Improvement Teams This role integral implementing advanced shift-left testing approaches maintaining quality reliability core casework tools driving automation process optimization collaboration internal infrastructure teams The position includes out-of-hours on-call support ensure continuous service excellence
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Platform Management:
Oversee configuration monitoring troubleshooting secure systems develop infrastructure solutions high availability scalability resilience leveraging cloud services container orchestration Infrastructure Code IaC practices
Automation Optimization:
Implement automation infrastructure provisioning deployment maintenance including Configuration Code CaC focus minimising manual tasks developing maintaining automated remediation increasing deployment efficiency reliability
Monitoring Performance Management:
Establish robust monitoring alerting systems ensure platform reliability identify performance bottlenecks Use tooling analyse metrics logs optimise system performance capacity
Security Compliance:
Work closely security team embed security best practices within infrastructure systems ensuring compliance relevant standards managing identity access controls Embed security throughout CI/CD pipeline automating security checks compliance validation vulnerability scanning
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Partner developers understand application requirements optimise CI/CD pipelines facilitate efficient deployment applications across various environments well security integrate security development life cycle
Incident Management Troubleshooting:
Take proactive approach incident management ensuring platforms monitored continuously issues quickly identified resolved implementing automated remediation possible
