Job Description
As a Lead Engineer, you will report within the Product Care Department. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated, dynamic, and growing team of engineers working on the design of HVDC Control Systems. This is a very exciting and dynamic field of control engineering in which GEs leading contribution has worldwide recognition. The Product Care function maintains Control and Protection application software, platform, valve electronics, handling obsolescence and implementing a life cycle process for the parts included, including what and when to communicate to customers, internal as well as external.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall requirements, design, implementation and testing of HVDC Control and Protection application software.
- Work as part of an expert team, giving ample opportunity for learning design and development skills highly relevant for working with any control and protection system; in particular, power electronics systems and grid technology.
- Execute the analysis, simulation, test, and integration required to define,and support assigned components, modules or systems that meet business standards.
- Apply prior experience and on-the-job training to solve problems.
- Propose solutions utilizing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline, analytical thinking,and technical experience in solving problems.
- Coachand mentor team members with less experience; lead small projects with low risksand resource requirements.
- Develop skills within the teamand manage performance.
- Lead active participationin continuous improvement activities.
- Responsiblefor operational planning/execution within a technical discipline.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
- Engineering degree in Computer Science or power systemsand power electronics subjects or proven equivalent knowledgeand experience in HVDC business.
- Lead designand developmentof eventandratedrivenapplicationsoftwareforcontrolandprotectionsystems.
- Competenton functional characteristics ofpower systems and interactions between AC andHVDCsystems.
- Knowledgeof PSCAD and competentusing MATLAB-SIMULINKsimulationtools.
- Promote Agile Softwaredevelopmentpracticeswithin theteam.
- Leadteam memberson Git,JiraandConfluenceforversioncontrol ,task/defectmanagementanddocumentation .
- Strongwritten/verbalcommunication skills anda can-do attitude.
