Overview
Do you have the ambition, enthusiasm and technical capability to work with us as a senior or principal groundwater modeller within the water resources sector? We are looking for someone to lead groundwater modelling projects in our groundwater resources team within our successful Water Management Consultancy business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced candidate looking to progress their career in a vitally important industry with an internationally renowned company.
Our highly respected Water Management Consultancy team has been at the forefront of managing the challenges of providing resilient and sustainable water supplies for the future, undertaking projects including developing and using groundwater models to support strategic management and investment decisions. We are building on this success by growing our team to help deliver an increasingly wide range of exciting projects for water companies, other major water users and regulators. You will take an important role in growing our business through both winning and delivering work across our extensive client portfolio, and in so doing enhancing our reputation for technical excellence.
As an experienced groundwater modelling specialist, you will have delivered groundwater modelling projects in the UK. You will work closely with our technical specialists who are based in our established teams in Birmingham, Epsom, Oxford and Peterborough. We have a friendly and approachable team with a strong reputation for delivering excellence with multiple clients.

Responsibilities
Joining a well-established successful team you will work with our technical leads in winning delivering managing portfolio of groundwater modelling projects developing trusted client relationships. You will champion high standards performance influence project development leading your own work excellent standard defining delivering outputs range complex problem solving tasks. Collaborative supportive teamwork vital success you will closely collaborate groundwater resources team mentor support junior staff including providing training aspects modelling.
While this role focused primarily on groundwater modelling you expected broader involvement hydrogeological assessments applications related surface supply strategic planning resource optimisation environmental assessment.
Requirements
With degree science engineering mathematics post-graduate qualification hydrogeology related subject likely chartered relevant professional body comprehensive knowledge all aspects modeling resources including building developing updating conceptual numerical models regional scale model use assessment abstraction impacts environment companies regulators experience developing using UK regional models wider experience include hydrogeology hydrology WINEP investigations (low flow studies WFD no deterioration) signal pumping tests borehole design flooding resource planning good understanding UK hydrogeology environmental regulatory framework management demonstrated expertise using MODFLOW (ideally including MODFLOW6) other flow recharge models such as 4R SWAc ability code Python R Fortran VBA similar desirable GIS skills ability develop new innovative approaches encouraged continue digital tools development enthusiastic continue skill development keep abreast new emerging technologies experience leading through life-cycle problem definition data collection analysis interpretation results drawing succinct conclusions recommendations highly motivated proactive excellent numerical analytical report-writing presentational skills eye detail enjoy solving challenging problems high achieving environment communicate effectively levels suit collaborative working building quality relationships valid full UK driving licence required.
