Role: Project Engineer
Location: Aylesbury
Reports to: Project Engineering Manager
Responsibilities:
- Deliver excellence in project engineering by managing the delivery of projects on time, to the required quality and within the allocated budget, including client contact.
- Liaise directly with clients to understand their needs (commercial and technical).
- Co-ordinate between all technical departments to ensure all aspects of the project are under control (design, software, electrical etc.).
- Be responsible for liaising with workshop supervisor to ensure manufacturing schedule is adhered to.
- Manage the build team (electrical & mechanical) ensuring milestones are visible and reachable.
- Ensure that the purchasing department is aware of the schedule, knows the target delivery dates and feedback any material or resource shortages.
- Ensure regular updates are given to the AGR build team.
- Lead machine debug and commissioning.
- Schedule/supervise machine strip down, shipping and installation including on site management at client premises.
- Ensure completion of final actions/snag lists from customer.
- Identify problems/issues in advance and plan resolution.
- Identify risk areas and generate plan to minimise them.
- Provide regular reporting to senior management and customers.
- Support with any customer change requests.
- Support with relevant machine completion documentation to be signed off by the customer.
- Attend project close out meeting to identify areas that were successful or areas which need improvement.
- Ensure procedures and working practices adhere to ISO9001:2015 standards and suggest where improvements can be made.
Qualifications:
- Project engineering experience within a relevant industry.
- Ideally an understanding of capital equipment engineering systems / automation.
- Of degree calibre with a project management aptitude.
- Working knowledge and practical application of project management planning methodologies and tools preferred.
- Commercial awareness with contractual as well as project experience/knowledge.
- Communication skills with ability to communicate at all levels within the team, wider business, and suppliers.
- Ability to organise, prioritise, and maintain relevant information to support business needs.
- Sound analytical skills; good problem solver.
- Organised; able to multi-task in a demanding environment; comfortable operating under pressure; able lead or be part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills; strong relationship building abilities.
- Creative ability for developing new ideas; implementing improvements effectively under pressure.
