Position Overview
Part of Apollo, ISGI is the dedicated investment office for Athora and asset manager for third party insurance clients. Athora and other insurance clients are investing in excess of €10bn into Return Seeking (RS) assets managed by ISGI, comprised of various types of private debt and equity like investments, originated and underwritten by Apollo. The strategy invests through a value-oriented approach with a focus on consistent outperformance and capital preservation. Current investments span a broad range of strategies in credit, real assets and private equity. The ISGI RS team covers and supports these clients in selecting investments, providing analytics, reporting, educational material and ad hoc support as necessary to defend investment decisions and allocations. This role is core to enable the asset allocation that drives excess returns for clients, while managing economic drawdown and regulatory risk. The mindset required is one of ever improving the economics, insight and service we deliver as a team through dedication and a cross functional, collaborative approach with the broader ISGI team.

Primary Responsibilities
The role will stretch across all RS asset classes, with a focus on alternative investments. An initial focus will be placed on the private equity like investments, but involvement in credit over time will be essential.

- Prepare and present summaries of new deals originated by Apollo to help the decision-making process for both internal stakeholders and clients.
- Defend investment decisions made; coordinate necessary governance for efficient approvals; prepare investment reporting material required to implement the investments within the regulatory framework (Solvency PPP).
- Liaise internally with Apollo deal teams and support functions for new originations; handle client needs professionally.
- Understand preparation adjustments needed for investor reports; manage ad hoc responses for internal (management information) & external use (education/reporting/board materials).
- Build constructive client relationships; provide service to our internal/external clients.
- Support client interactions with auditors/regulators; provide ad-hoc materials often under time constraints.
- Apply & develop analytics to track/project capital activity/returns/forecasting/capital consumption/drawdown risk/diversification metrics to construct portfolios comprised of private investments.

Qualifications & Experience
3+ years relevant experience in investment functions within:
(i) large insurance company,
(ii) insurance asset management company,
(iii) an investment bank within an insurance solutions or structuring group,
(iv) consulting firm specializing in insurance regulation or law,
(v) alternative asset management group.

Previous experience with alternative/private investments is essential. Understanding fixed income principles/capital markets is required. Knowledge of Solvency II regulation—particularly Standard Formula calculation/assessment for private assets—is ideal; experience documenting investment decisions against those frameworks preferred along with awareness of Prudent Person Principle (PPP) requirements.

Candidate must be able to defend investment proposals to clients; possess good presentation/interpersonal skills. Self-starter with strong work ethic willing to consistently go the extra mile.
