GE Vernovas Digital business in the UK is seeking sharp, personable, highly organized interns who are looking to expand their technical and professional skills while working on substantial real-world projects electrifying and decarbonizing the world. Over a 12-month internship starting June/July 2024 they will have the opportunity to explore the digital technologies created by GE Vernova as well as work alongside the industry's best engineers while building a career with unlimited potential.

Interns must be eligible to work in the UK and be willing to attend the office a minimum of three days per week.

Job Description Summary:
As the world's energy sector moves away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy sources, industrial companies are challenged with addressing this transition in transformative ways. Digitization will be key to making power-generating assets more efficient, making the electric grid more secure and resilient and accelerating the addition of renewables to the electric grid. GE Digital is leading this transformation.

The role is for an Internship as a Power Systems Engineer in GE Digitals Innovation Hub in Edinburgh. Our team works end-to-end from substation to control room in fields of power system dynamics, stability, control and performance; covering instrumentation, monitoring & analytics; control systems; modeling. We work closely with customers to develop innovative solutions for emerging problems; shape & deliver software; design & deploy control schemes; provide consulting services around power system performance; model validation; tuning of power system stabilizers; etc.

We are looking for engineers who are passionate about revolutionizing power systems understand complexities around low-carbon energy can apply innovative solutions bring about change.

Roles And Responsibilities
You will work as part of our dynamic Power Systems team within our highly collaborative GE Digital Innovation Hub. You will contribute research design innovative solutions utilizing extending Wide Area Measurement Control products Transmission Distribution Management Systems. You will also be involved driving consulting project delivery services customers working closely them academic partners address power system problems deliver solutions shape future Electrical Grid.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Work closely with our customers deliver innovative solutions including associated training analysis workshops introduction operational service.
- Serve as key link with customers understanding motivations requirements identifying opportunities communicating these colleagues Power Systems Software Engineering Project Management Commercial teams.
- Contribute design development core Wide Area Monitoring Systems (WAMS) Wide Area Protection Control products including algorithms user functional performance requirements simulation testing.
- Carry out analysis studies consultancy services involving model-based static dynamic analysis measurement-based studies.
- Knowledge transfer support customers ongoing projects promote increased utilization products gather feedback identify potential follow-on business.
- Technical support sales process including pre-sales customer presentations workshops pilot projects engagement customer challenges.
- Writing technical reports papers presentations conference journal publications
- Up 25% travel customer interaction project meetings

Qualifications/Requirements
Working towards BSC MSc PhD Electrical Engineering equivalent knowledge experience preferred focus Power System Dynamics Transients Stability Control.Must fluent English able communicate effectively teleconference face-to-face meetings.Must fast learner willingness develop knowledge new areas ability conduct robust research.Must good communication skills able communicate complex specialist concepts verbally visually written word.Must able solve problems holistic manner able work individually team

Desirable Experiences
Experience Matlab Simulink beneficial familiarity RTDS OPAL-RT environments.Experience power system analysis beneficial using industry standard tools PSCAD PSS/E DigSILENT PowerFactory Powertech DSATools.Experience Power Electronics solutions simulations controls.
