Contract Duration: Initial 12-month contract
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Role Overview:
The Software Controls Engineer role in Calibration and Controls is responsible for identifying, specifying, developing, testing, calibrating and reviewing ideas that will lead to either performance or reliability improvement on the Power Unit.

Performance Improvement Responsibilities:
- Be any feature that results in a powertrain performance gain such as fuel consumption, electrical energy usage, heat rejection, drivability.
- Involve working in close cooperation with Performance Engineering to develop a system.
- Be any feature that allows operational "ease of use".

Additional Responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining our SiL, HiL and Test systems to ensure robust and reliable operation of the powertrain systems on rigs, dynos or in the vehicle.

Required Skills:
- Delivering solutions of the highest standard on fast paced and technically challenging projects.

Experience Required:
- Model based software development using Simulink and Stateflow, preferably within an Automotive environment.
- Specifying, developing and testing optimal internal combustion engine and hybrid powertrain control systems.
- Performing validation tests on various platforms (HiL, Rig, Dyno etc.).
- Documenting and developing specifications and procedures.

Knowledge Required:
- The full software lifecycle including requirements, design, code and test.
- Internal combustion engine and hybrid powertrain operation and control.
- Sensors and actuators used within the powertrain.
- Powertrain failure modes and their containment.
- Use of calibration, diagnostic tools such as CANape, CANalyzer; WinDarab; RaceCon.
- Software applications for delivering high quality software.
- Automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN; Ethernet).

Qualifications Required:
Essential:
1. BEng/BSc qualified (2:1 minimum) in Degree level or higher in software or engineering related discipline.
2. Software design experience using one or more of MATLAB/Simulink/C/C+.

Desirable:
1. 3+ years post graduate experience in challenging engineering environment.
2. Chartered Engineer Professional Registration.

1.Develop Software Control Systems for power unit functions
2.Managing calibrations for Power unit electronic systems
3.Specifying/developing/overseeing control system tests
4.Supporting/championing software development best practices
5.Provision rapid root cause failure analysis solutions
