Contract Duration: 6 months
Work Location: Mostly remote with occasional onsite work in Scotland
Rate: £450 per day (Outside IR35)

Role Overview:
Our public sector client based in Scotland is seeking a Developer to join their team and accelerate the transition from legacy on-prem systems to new cloud-native systems. The Developer will collaborate on the development of new serverless micro-services using AWS Lambda functions and Typescript/Javascript.

Key Responsibilities:
- Continued development and support of products in-line with the product and architecture roadmaps.
- Demonstrate excellent, sustainable, and collaborative software development practices focused on delivering highly readable, maintainable, and appropriate artefacts.
- Actively participate in all team events, leading where specialist knowledge is required, and supporting the team to improve their process through inspection and adaptation.
- Troubleshoot and fix development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
- Engage with wider communities of practice to share knowledge, techniques, and experiences.
- Coach and mentor other team members as necessary.
- Ensure high quality of developed solutions through development/maintenance of unit tests (with appropriate code coverage) & code analysis using quality tools.

Key Skills & Experience:
Significant commercial experience with:
- AWS including: CDK, Serverless (Lambda), S3, API Gateway,
Cloud Formation & AWS RDS for Postgres
- Typescript (or modern JavaScript) & Node.js
- Vanilla ReactJS/NextJS
- Java/SpringBoot

Significant demonstrable experience in:
- Making excellent quality software collaboratively
- Working with business stakeholders to understand context/focus on value delivery
- Designing/implementing service-based/serverless architecture solutions
- Excellent collaboration/communication/teamwork skills
- Agile delivery models (Scrum/Kanban frameworks)
- Developing within GDS/Digital First/similar quality standards
- Cloud monitoring/telemetry/intelligence tools & processes
Formal XP engineering techniques including Pair Programming/TDD
Defining infrastructure-as-code
Human-centred/research-driven/inclusive design practices
Testing tools/frameworks e.g Cypress
Using UI pattern libraries for consistent/tested/high-quality interfaces
