THE ROLE
As a Sales Manager within Metallurgical Services, you will be self-motivated and highly customer focused, able to identify sales opportunities and follow up leads to fulfil a pre-sales / marketing role, generating enquiries for Iron Making and Caster equipment Spares, Service and Products. You will develop customer relationships which will lead to project prospects in the future. Being the primary point of contact for your customers, you will ensure a rapid response to quotation requests, establishing relationships with customers to understand their investment rationale and objectives. You will utilise this information to plan and act the Metallurgical Services activities accordingly, to win profitable orders and secure sustainable growth for Primetals Technologies. The Technical Sales Manager will be required to drive and own customer orders from enquiry through to delivery, maintaining the direct communication with the customers throughout.
MAIN Tasks And RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, create and drive sales opportunities for maintenance, repair, refurbishments, upgrades, spares and products.
- Develop effective client relationships through a systematic communication plan including regular visits.
- Identify customer stakeholders including key decision makers and customer investment plans.
- Evaluate enquiries, assess sales opportunities and define the bid strategy. Plan, lead and manage the bid process in compliance with the company regulations
- Provide customers with budget price estimates, fixed price offers and optimum delivery schedules
- Negotiate and win contracts with the support of proposals services and legal services.
- Ensure proper handover from sales to project management after order acquisition to mitigate all risks during project execution (possible claims, non-conformance costs etc.).
- Liaise with the Product Life-cycle Managers and R&D to inform about new requirements from the market; clients' needs; response of competition to those requirements/needs.
- Liaise with Supply Chain Management Team to ensure seamless order execution.
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure necessary technical clarifications or engineering activities are carried out on time & budget.
- Liaise with marketing/communications team ensuring production of effective publicity material in form of press releases; brochures; editorial.
Essential required skills And Experience
- Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent engineering experience in industry.
- Sales oriented with good understanding of metals (e.g., Iron & Steelmaking; Casting) or heavy engineering industry.
- Track record of sales performance & effective customer relationship management
- Strategic awareness of suitable low-cost engineering & manufacturing facilities
- Good leadership & decision-making skills attention detail.
- Commercial awareness key legal contractual issues.
- Excellent interpersonal communication negotiation presentation skills.
- Strong customer focus understanding customers' technical commercial requirement.
- Ability self-manage motivate self-motivate especially under pressure changing situations.
Desirable
Experience working various disciplines roles metals industry (including at least one engineering proposals sales order management) specific knowledge Iron Making Casting. Experience sales/bidding process Ability converse other languages Previous international travel understanding sensitivities different global cultures
Additional Information
This role is expected travel as required which can be at short notice There may also need work meet customer deadlines outside core hours time-to-time The post holder must have current UK Driving License as well right live work UK travel internationally without restrictions.
