Position Overview
We are looking for a dynamic and highly skilled Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to join ABUHB chronic pain management service. This post is based at Chronic Pain Management Centre in County Hospital, Pontypool.
Service Description
ABUHB Chronic Pain Management Service is a multidisciplinary team of medical consultants, consultant clinical psychologist, clinical nurse specialists and health care support workers. The ethos of the service is in line with Welsh Government guidance to facilitate supported self-management of chronic pain as a long-term condition based on shared decision making and patient-centred care.
The service offers:
- Face-to-face/remote patient consultations
- Interventional therapy
- Multidisciplinary clinics
- Psychology services
- Supported self-management which includes individual pain management modules and group-based pain management programmes
Key Responsibilities
As a clinical specialist physiotherapist, you will:
- Provide clinical assessment and treatment as required by the service demands
- Be actively involved in the pain management programme
- Demonstrate experience in all aspects of assessment and management of chronic pain conditions
- Combine highly specialist clinical practice with innovation
- Follow best practice and promote high quality physiotherapy services
Qualifications & Skills Required
You will have:
- Demonstrable leadership qualities
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Proven abilities to build networks across sites and disciplines
Through your knowledge of emerging clinical advances within the specialty, you will be expected to advise and inform strategic planning and future service development.
Support & Development Opportunities
Clinical support for the post will come from within Pain Services, with profession-specific support available via the Physiotherapy Service. ABUHB chronic pain management service encourages staff development through internal and external training programs including specialty forums, clinical audit, research opportunities, as well as clinical supervision and mentoring. We have a structured personal appraisal system in place with annual reviews underpinned by the Knowledge and Skills Framework.
