Our client is one of London's leading Civil Engineering and Infrastructure contractors, with over 30 years' experience delivering iconic build and infrastructure projects.
Position Overview:
Due to continual growth within the civil engineering rail sector and the successful expansions into new infrastructure sectors, they have the immediate need for a Senior Estimator to join their established Preconstruction team, reporting directly into the Preconstruction Director.
Candidate Profile:
As the successful candidate, you will have extensive civils and structures experience within the railway environment and a detailed understanding of Network Rail requirements, producing successful bids from 1st Principles for works including platform extensions, new bridges and structures, new station builds and associated civils and groundworks. Our client is happy to consider permanent and freelance candidates for this role. A full JD for the role can be provided upon request.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Preconstruction Director, you will have extensive civils and structures (FRC) project and estimating experience within the railway sector.
- Pricing works from 1st principles, possessing a sound knowledge of civil engineering techniques, outputs and resources, identification and management of Risk.
- You will develop and manage cost estimates that align with tender documentation and client requirements.
- Work with Preconstruction team to produce the programme, budgets, cost plans, and design to cost budgets.
- Be responsible for producing and delivering accurate cost estimates, tender summaries, and costed risk registers.
- Comfortable presenting at internal and external meetings.
- Able to provide support on other sector projectsand tenders as required.
Requirements:
- Engineering background; degree qualified in Civil Engineering or similar qualification with relevant experience
- 5+ years' experience as an Engineer on site &/or in a delivery role with Estimating experience working on Civil Engineering infrastructure projects.
- Conversant with different types of Estimating Software; generally strong IT Skills.
- Experience in pricing works from 1st principles; able to read drawings.
- Awareness of current construction technologiesand methods; understanding how these impact outputsand costs.
- Understanding of civil engineering resources,their costs,and outputs; how these translate tothe overall project cost.
- Understanding significanceof project constraints oncostof deliveryand Network Rail tender requirements.
- Knowledgeof risk management procedures; understandinghowtheseimpactoncostestimates.
- Commercial acumenand contractual awareness.
- Abilityto take off quantitiesfromdrawings.
- Abilityto liaisewithinternalandexternalcustomers.
