Role Purpose:
To provide support to the Finance and Trading departments in all areas of margin, supplier income, and profitability reporting. To complete weekly, periodic, and quarterly reporting requirements while being a key player in quarter-end hard close forecasting. To develop, motivate, and mentor the team appropriately.
Role Scope:
The Lead Financial Trading Analyst will be responsible for producing key reports for Trading and Finance used to monitor trading performance. This role involves driving business value through management information required by senior management at Musgrave Group while mentoring direct reports.
Key Activities:
- Manage production/preparation of weekly reports (including sales & margin analysis; supplier income) within strict timelines.
- Assist Financial Trading Analysts with periodic management accounts preparation.
- Support budget/forecast processes focusing on managing gross profit aspects within set timeframes.
- Partner with Trading teams for continuous margin improvement including supplier negotiations; streamline reports; conduct margin variance analysis.
- Manage direct reports including PDR process ensuring tasks are completed accurately/timely.
- Provide any other requested reports/information as needed by senior management.
Measures:
- Reporting/management accounts delivered on agreed timelines.
- High-quality budget/forecast reports produced per MNI reporting deadlines.
- Timely/professional responses to queries from Finance/Trading Management Team or Musgrave Group.
- Provide support to Financial Planning Manager/trading function.
Knowledge & Skills:
Essential Qualification & Experience:
- Fully Qualified accountant
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Financial Analyst or Management Accountant or similar role within fast-paced commercial environments
- Previous experience with margin reporting/variance analysis
- Previous experience preparing budgets/forecasts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (especially large data sets)
- Ability to plan/prioritize workloads meeting deadlines
- Effective communication skills at all levels
- Ability to work independently
- Strong cross-functional relationship-building skills
Desirable Qualification & Experience:
- 3rd level qualification in Business, Finance or Accounting
- Previous experience within grocery retail/wholesale sector particularly regarding margin/profit analysis
- Exposure to Oracle systems

Work Model:
Musgrave operates a Work Smart hybrid working model allowing alternation between connecting/collaborating onsite versus remote work. Occasional business travel may also be required.
