Team Overview
Join a team that’s supporting the government’s growth strategy as part of government’s efforts to use financial transactions and contingent liabilities (including loans, equity investments and guarantees) to promote growth and investment. UKGI is working with departments to provide actionable advice in support of their policy aims.

Following the October 2024 Budget, UKGI’s Financial Instruments and Transaction Advisory Group (FInTAG) has been asked by His Majesty’s Treasury to research and produce an annual report of all financial assets owned by the government to understand their true value, which will be used to help shape all future fiscal and financial planning that will define how government delivers on its priorities. This is a large expansion to our remit resulting in new opportunities for motivated individuals to join us and have a real impact on growth projects across the country such as affordable homes, national infrastructure projects, and energy security.

Role Overview
We bring together a mix of corporate finance, data, credit risk, and actuarial skills to support government in creating value for society from its complex commercial interests. About the Role
You will be working in a highly collaborative, friendly, open-minded team that is developing:

- Improvements on how we collect data across government
- Streamlining data structures
- Utilizing said data for products supporting team objectives
- New analytical methodologies for stress testing government's contingent liability
- Analyzing value risk performance across government's contingent liabilities
- New analytical pipelines informing reports produced
- Continuous improvement on various analytical works undertaken
- New innovative data solutions organization-wide

Responsibilities
You will oversee embedding continuous improvement of our new data collection platform/database; lead cross-government data collection exercises covering contingent liabilities; lead strengthening our data governance management standards; manage processes validations checks ensuring accuracy completeness database; ensure other teams can utilize held datasets effectively while providing guidance on structuring collected information.

You will also line manage up two analysts while task managing others collaboratively across boundaries.

Person Specification

Essential Skills/Experience:
As a manager overseeing our data handling you'll have demonstrable passion with following skills or experience:

- Effectively leading managing own/matrix teams delivering technical products/projects in analysis solution design end-user reporting.
- Formulation implementation governance management standards analytical environment.
- Sound understanding Excel – experience using one or more: PowerQuery / DAX / VBA.
- Code development database techniques tools environments such as SQL GIT/DevOps Python R.
- Experience creating visualizations PowerBI/Tableau/R(Shiny)/Python(Dash).
- Working supporting wide range senior stakeholders maximizing ability provide complex collected information.
- Presenting complex ideas recommendations inform decisions clearly senior technical nontechnical audiences customers.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills troubleshooting issues optimizing processes.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
Experience with public sector financial/accounting reporting processes; Financial industries Corporate finance experience; Business Analysis regarding digital changes; Understanding project management delivery principles.
