Our consultancy client is looking for a Senior Data Consultant who has at least 3 years’ experience in Power BI.

The ideal candidate will have recent and relevant experience in data-focused software development. This could be from a data engineering role, data-focused support, development, or a similar role.

You will be prepared to work on multiple projects if required and to be flexible in the technologies they choose to work with. This experience would ideally cover the full lifecycle of data projects from analysis through to design, implementation, deployment and testing.

Main Responsibilities:

Technology:
• Enjoy the data journey and abstract problems. See the joy in delivering value to the customer through high-quality, timely data.
• Be able to communicate complex points in a manner that can be digested by those with little or no technical capability.
• Work on bespoke data-focused solutions serving a range of data warehousing and real-time reporting requirements.
• Provide data analysis expertise for clients and colleagues.
• Develop high-quality solutions using the Microsoft Azure stack including but not limited Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics and Power BI.
• Test and deploy solutions using CI/CD in Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Work directly with key clients to consult and advise on suitable solutions.
• Feed your experience into the data engineering process across all projects to ensure consistency and the delivery of value.
• Attend and contribute to workshops with our clients, and potential clients.

Sales / Business Development Support
• Input to the estimation of new work.
• Assist in the qualification of potential projects and assist in creating proposals for those projects.

Experience:
• Minimum 3 years in a bespoke software consultancy or large internal IT organisation.
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft product suite, ideally but not limited to with a focus on Azure cloud solutions.
• Experience building ETL solutions and working with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and / or Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Data projects involving R, Python, PySpark or Scala.
• Some experience in Data warehousing.
• Power BI and its use with modelling data sets.
• It would be beneficial to have commercial experience in the use of DAX and Power Query
• It would be beneficial to have commercial experience in creating CI/CD pipelines using YAML in Azure DevOps.

Skills/Knowledge:
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with a desire to share knowledge.
• Data engineering skills ideally but not limited to data analysis, database design, data transformation and data modelling for reporting.
• Practical experience of implementing new data-focused solutions.
• Hands-on knowledge of DevOps tools and techniques.
• Ability to juggle and manage timelines and deadlines from clients and peers.
• Proactive approach and work ethic appropriate for a fast-paced, team oriented, consultancy.
