We are a small RICS regulated firm that provide high quality estimating and quantity surveying services to subcontractors and main contractors. We work across general civil engineering and rail civil engineering projects. Due to continued growth, we are looking for additional support.Ideal qualities / attributes:Trustworthy and dependable; because we work for several Clients ensuring sensitive information is not disclosed is imperative. We are an RICS regulated firm, as such ensuring we adhere to the rules of conduct is of the utmost importance. We have built our reputation by providing great honest service to our Client’s, that needs to be maintained at all times.Adaptability is key; being able to understand different Client requirements and interpreting how best to fulfil requirements is very important.Willingness to learn; we are looking for a consultant who is keen to learn, the consultant may have multiple types of Clients and being able to apply knowledge to solve problems for our Client’s is what makes us different. We value enthusiasm and willingness to learn.Experience; we are looking for a consultant with estimating / quantity surveying experience within the UK civil engineering sector, additional experience in the rail sector would be an advantage. Based on the current projects / assignments 2 years + experience is expected to be required.Ability to manage own workload; ideally being able to take schemes from inception / brief through the estimating stage and if required by our Client as part of our engagement, to carry out post contract quantity surveying duties to final account stage. There will be support available to help discharge these activities.Familiar with ICC / CECA blue form / NEC / NR forms of contract again is important as Clients expect us to be able to advise them.Familiar with standard methods of measurement predominantly CESMM, RMM, HWMM / SMM / NRM. These methods of measurement are key to our services, having a good understanding of these is key as estimates will need to be aligned to these structures.Estimating; ability to price works from first principals and present in easy-to-understand format. The core of our business is providing high quality accurate estimates to our Client’s. Knowledge of Causeway estimating software would be beneficial but not essential.Construction knowledge; knowledge of the UK construction sector and being able to apply knowledge to generate methodology and programme documents is key. Projects and Clients are generally based in northwest England and Ireland with visits required to site / Client offices. Candidates should be in a commutable distance of Preston.
