Would you like to join a well-respected Engineering Design Consultancy within the UK?If the answer is yes, this could be the role for you!The OpportunityAn exciting opportunity has opened up for an Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer to join our client's dynamic team, where you will be responsible for defining and distributing the scope of work to ensure that the project is executed safely, on time and at appropriate levels of quality. You are responsible for the delivery of design and engineering to meet the requirements technical specification.This role has been deemed outside IR35 but is dependent on a full status determination assessment.Duration: 12 months +Location: Didcot, remote working with occasional site visit Your duties and responsibilities will beDevelopment of designs to satisfy the technical specification,Production of design deliverables throughout the design process,Checking/approval of discipline specific design deliverables,Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews,Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process,Compliance with safety legislation and statutory regulations,Develop cost effective technical solutions,Staff development,Managing safety by developing and reinforcing the safety culture,Management of contractors,Provide technical consultancy.You will have the following qualifications & experienceDegree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experienceWorking towards, or already have, Chartership in a discipline specific engineering institution.Strong understanding of the fundamentals within your engineering disciplineCurrent SC Security ClearanceSignificant experience in two or more of the following specific EC&I areas:Mechanical Handling (including Remote in-cell handling)Process InstrumentationAppreciation of Functional Safety (to BS EN 61508/BS EN 61511)Machinery Safety (including BS EN 60204 and BS EN 13849)LV Distribution Systems (including experience in Trimble Pro-design)Previous experience of working within the nuclear industryUnderstanding of client processes and proceduresProven track record of successfully delivering design solutionsUnderstanding of design requirements and justification to support nuclear safety casesGood understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulationsStrong organisational and interpersonal skillsGood level of commercial awarenessExperience of leading design teamsExperience of managing sub-contractsIt’s great if you also have the followingFull membership of a discipline specific engineering institutionA understanding of DAR’sEC&I design integration with control systems (PLC/SCADA) would be advantageous.Experience of Design Substantiation to support safety cases including assessment of new and existing systems.Experience of bid preparationThe setting for the roleRisks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels.
