Main Tasks Are The Following
Controlling Quality of Civil works
- Carry out daily inspections of the works.
- Carry out weekly site inspections with the civil works sub-contractor.
- Ensure the quality and inspection plan is implemented and complied with.
- Inspection of the works at designated hold points.
- Conduct periodic audits of the civil sub-contractor to ensure they are working to the correct revision of the drawings/specification.
- Raise NCR's where required and ensure agreed corrective action is implemented.
- Discharge the role of Temporary Works Co-Ordinator and ensure all TW processes are followed in line with BS 5975:2019 and company policy with support and guidance from the Company Designated Individual.
To ensure where reasonably practicable:
- Compliance of the Civil Sub-Contract, adherence to agreed design, relevant specifications, inform Head Office immediately of any deviation, recommend appropriate actions, obtain approval, monitor that agreed actions are carried out.
Liaise with:
- The customer's Civil Engineer/Quality Engineer to ensure they have access to inspect the works when required.
Collecting, preparing and issuing necessary reports:
- Data, results or other documentation requested by Customer.
Ensure that any planning conditions are complied with.
Ensure building regulations are adhered to; liaise with building inspector for access at appropriate stages.
Advise:
- Project Civil Engineer on any design issues; agree on changes.
Prepare snagging list; issue it to civil works subcontractor/project team.
Monitor/review progress on snagging items; ensure timely closure at acceptable standards.
On a weekly basis:
- Carry out an audit of civil contractors' working drawings for correct revision usage; issue NCR if incorrect revision is used.
Setup, Control & Coordinate hand-over:
- Of completed civil works to installation team.
Controlling Civil Works Costs
The RCE will assist site manager/PM/QS/contracts manager by:
- Advising on potential variations,
- Reviewing variations/claims,
- Issuing all site instructions to Civil Works subcontractor (all instructions with cost/schedule implications must be approved by Site Manager prior).
Site Management, Health & Safety
Assist Site Manager as needed.
Assist Health & Safety manager as needed.
Review all RAMS from Civil sub-contractor in conjunction with Health & Safety Manager.
Ensure safe execution according to Health & Safety policy/procedures by Civil Sub-contractor.
Attend:
- Monthly site meetings,
- Design reviews.
Maintain a daily site diary recording progress:
- Staffing/subcontractors on-site,
- Schedule etc.
Prepare a weekly report:
Status/progress of civil works highlighting issues (to be circulated among project team).
Maintain photographic record:
Schedule Monitor progress/compliance against schedule for civil subcontractors' resources ensuring schedule can be met; report issues/resource problems to Site Manager.
Environmental
Ensure compliance by civil work sub-contractor according environmental procedures/all appropriate legislation.
Project Documentation
Review sub-contractorsโ as-built mark-ups; forward approved copies to project Civil Engineer.
Review updated drawings against as-built โmark-upsโ ensuring changes have been correctly updated.
Prepare/receive/examine upon completion copies:
Site commissioning results records/drawings/or operating instructions prepared by Civil Design Engineer/Civil Sub-Con Contractor deliver same Head Office (commissioning/as-built documents should be verified against Customer's Civil Site Engineer).
Health and Safety
Demonstrate EHS leadership ensuring STOP WORK POLICY implementation in activities;
Ensures application EHS Policy/procedures in all site activities;
Communicates regularly policy/processes subcontractors;
Participates EHS Gemba walks;
Identifies/evaluates EHS risks implementing practical measures;
Sets example demonstrating proper acts actively observing work conditions/behaviors reporting deviations/highlighting achievements or safe behaviors;
Actively participates defining corrective actions when unsafe/uncontrolled risk observed.
Core Skills / Qualifications
An appropriate qualification in Civil Engineering degree level demonstrated years industry experience.
Previous experience construction key elements including Civils Works.
Appropriate industry-recognized Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
Great interpersonal skills ability extensive teamwork under challenging situations.
Knowledge Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations/best practices industry-wide standards recognized qualifications.
Desired Experience
Appropriate health/safety experience/training qualifications international standards roles nature willing learn/develop outside original field training building services auxiliaries knowledgeable local standards/best practice relation construction/environmental legislation practices/control related construction operations.
This is a site-based position requiring extended posting across UK/North Europe region.
