Rate: £589 p/d
We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer to provide proactive support and maintenance for critical production databases across Oracle & SQL Server environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database administration, including provisioning, patching, upgrading, migration, backup & recovery.
- Performance tuning, troubleshooting, and incident resolution within agreed SLAs.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery support (Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, SQL Server Always On).
- Process automation and continuous improvement.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams and escalation to senior engineers as needed.
- Flexibility is essential, as some work may extend beyond core business hours.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in Oracle & SQL Server database administration in a production setting.
- Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with database builds, patching, migrations, and upgrades.
- Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager, Linux (Red Hat), Windows, AIX, and Solaris.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Change & Problem Management).
Advantageous Skills:
- Cloud database management (OCI, Exadata Cloud @ Customer, Azure).
- SQL Replication and Flashback technologies.
- Dynatrace tooling and Windows Failover Clustering.
- Experience with Dell Data Domain Boost or other database technologies.
