Role: Contract (6 months initially)

Purpose of job:
Their aim is to become a market leader in provision of Electric Vehicle charging solution provider to Local Authorities and Businesses as part of their strategy to lead the transition to zero carbon. The goal is to undertake an ambitious electric vehicle charging installation program, deploying high volume and quality EV installations across the nation. Their aim is to make the world a better place, one charge point at the time.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will work within the IT team to provide a secure and safe environment for the developers to work. The platform team works closely with the developers providing support on technical challenges and guidance to ensure optimised and well architected solutions are created using DevOps, SecOps and FinOps practices.

Key Accountabilities:
- Design, build and documentation of platform configuration for automation and shared tooling.
- Monitoring platform security, stability, scalability, connectivity, cost and performance and acting on any findings.
- Provide preventative guardrails to maintain security and compliance of the functionality within the AWS platform.
- Ensure efficient use of AWS products and features; understand and articulate billing and pricing models.
- Develop improvements in platform tools following agile development processes through test into live.
- Ensure that security standards & AWS architectural recommendations are considered as part of each deployment built into development solutions.
- Work closely with developers for integration with Azure DevOps; implement changes that improve speed & release quality on CICD pipeline.
- Investigate & manage administration of new tools/processes for improved efficiency (e.g., backup, change access requests).
- Develop understanding across multiple teams for technical challenges; provide detailed designs/technical breakdowns when required.
- Research & implement solutions not available within AWS that meet IT use-case requirements; upskill where necessary.
- Support & mentor junior employees; guide groups on medium-sized projects.
- Assist Platform Lead in recruitment/support/mentoring juniors as needed; assist in planning/coordinating work stacks/road maps.
- Lead meetings/decision-making processes when required; perform any other duties as needed.

Key Relationships:
Internal – Development Team, QA Team, Solution Architect, CTO, IT Service Team, Finance Team, Data Team
External – AWS Support , Any other external vendors

Knowledge and Skills:
At least 2 years experience in AWS
Experience in DevOps , FinOps , SecOps in Cloud environments
Experience with key AWS services such as Security Hub , Trusted Advisor , Cost Explorer , VPC , CloudWatch , EventBridge , Cloud Trail , Control Tower Organizations
Experience with Linux Containerization
Experience in AWS account management
Experience systems administration across multi-service environment
Understanding Best Practices Well Architected Framework
Understanding pricing models
Experience Network design principles implementation
Understanding vulnerability management secure design principles
Experience CI/CD capability repository management pipeline management
Proficiency programming languages including Python CloudFormation Node.js Typescript CDK bash script
