Data Specialist – Outside of IR35

About the Role:
Our client is an acquisitive operator of energy assets onshore and offshore. It is currently undergoing a significant transition and acquiring UK assets. We seek an interim lead data specialist to support the UK's senior leadership team as new acquisitions are merged into the current business.

Role Focus:
The role is a broad position focused on creating data strategies and plans for merged assets. The work will centre around core Oil and Gas operations to understand the IT landscape of any acquisitions, then apply a strategy to absorb the data, both historical and ongoing requirements based on new systems and processes.

Purpose of Role:
- The Data Architect will be the technical authority for the client's Data and Analytics capabilities and environment in asset-acquired and ongoing operations. They will also act as SMEs when appropriate across projects.
- The Data Architect is responsible for discovering the data and analytics requirements across all projects and product lines. They need to contribute to The client Energy’s overall strategy on data, unlocking business insight by improving access to consistent data, standardising data governance, and automating data-based processes.
- Collaborates with leaders within IS, analytics specialists, information management staff, and business stakeholders.
- Influences and drives data strategy: By partnering with business unit leadership through rationalisation of the data value chain, provides strategic recommendations to maximize value of data assets via their creation, access, use.
- Surfaces data priority: Assesses benefits/risks of data using tools such as business capability models to create a quick visualisation of what matters most based on defined business strategy.

Critical Skills & Qualifications:
- Significant IT experience with substantial expertise in data/information system design & governance; Oil & gas experience preferred.
- Oil & Gas experience in operational technologies within Mergers & Acquisitions.
- Ability to translate architecture contributions into simple briefings for various roles related to analytics/data.
- Capability to understand long-term ("big picture") & short-term perspectives of situations.
- Hands-on experience designing/implementing solutions; preferred background in managing programs/platforms related to analytics/data.
- Understanding of business domain; knowledge about content/data/processes required.
- Ability to analyse project/program/portfolio/product needs; determine resources needed for objectives while overcoming cross-functional barriers.
