Role Overview
This role will shape, assess and drive the safe implementation of change on behalf of TOCS and PMO to time, cost and quality. Co-ordinating and leveraging skills and experience from across IT, the wider CIO function where applicable to ensure deployment of change is delivered safely to protect live service and deliver on the clients vision of a Digital First bank.
Collaboration
The Release Manager will work alongside key colleagues within D&I/PMO/Change Management and Technical Support teams as well as key Business stakeholders to oversee all the stages involved in a software/hardware release from development and testing to deployment.
Accountabilities
1. Delivery Management
- Own and drive the delivery of a release or major project across the function - to agreed budgets and timescales.
- Ensure that release planning estimates are accurate and that processes are in place to refine release estimates.
2. Release Life Cycle Management
- Manage the full release life cycle to the banks standards, governance frameworks, and methodologies.
- Identify, change, and embed ways to improve performance and effectiveness across implementation and release management processes.
3. Industry Awareness
- Be aware of current industry best practice and innovation with implementation and release management.
- Ensure recommendations from release or project post-implementation reviews are embedded.
4. Scope Agreement
- Work with Portfolio Managers and Project Managers to agree on scope of releases at appropriate stages in the life cycle of each component.
5. Innovation Leadership
- Take a lead regarding innovation initiatives in this area in order to make it as cost-effective, rechargeable, and efficient as possible.
6. IT Strategy Contribution
- Contribute to overall IT strategy by designing implementing release solutions that meet business objectives.
7. Stakeholder Management
- Manage senior stakeholders both internal & external ensuring quality assurance is maintained according to bank standards.
8. Resource Management
- Ensure that releases are resourced appropriately.
9. Transition Management
- Manage releases through transition ensuring appropriate programme close & handover into BAU (Business As Usual).
10. Regulatory Compliance
- Act in accordance with regulatory body requirements as appropriate.
11. Comprehensive Reporting
- Ensure all elements of the release: Technical, Control Quality & Customer are managed met & reported effectively.
12. Team Engagement
- Ensure engagement of appropriate team members especially concerning customer journey & programme quality.
13. Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other activities from time-to-time as directed by Manager – Release Management
