Description
Role Purpose:
- Supporting the Managing & Senior Estimators to develop estimates from 1st Principles associated with the civil portions of multi disciplined Highways Projects across various stages of the estimate.
- Be a member of the team developing the price.
- Support more senior members of the team to present, negotiate and justify prices produced in an open and honest manner to both senior leaders within the business and/or external customers/partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake estimates in accordance with the companies’ policies and procedures.
- Review customer’s drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment.
- Oversee and/or interrogate design options and ‘value’ solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles.
- Record assumptions and identify risks and opportunities including supporting developing the risk evaluation from a pricing/budgetary point of view.
- Liaise with members of the project team & supply chain to develop and understand methodologies and principles proposed.
Organisational Dimensions:
You will work within a multi-disciplinary team reporting to the Asset Management Leads and Commercial Manager.
Interfaces:
Key internal stakeholders: Senior Leaders, Portion Lead, Project Directors, Design & Engineering lead teams, Commercial Director teams (including Procurement), Planning Leads teams, subject matter experts, technical writers/bid teams, other estimating team members.
Key external stakeholders: Alliance partners, Customers, Designers, Supply Chain Sub-contractors Cost Consultants Auditors
