The Job
We are looking for a highly organised, fast-learning and creative Social Media Manager with a keen interest in human-led storytelling and on-the-ground content creation to help inspire activity among people of all ages and backgrounds in a wide range of sports. The goal is to showcase the participant experience at our mass events to help inspire more people to sign up for them for 2026.

Within this 12-month maternity cover role you will be providing valuable support with the management of all our social media channels across the LME event portfolio as well as delivering social media output for our upcoming events – Bath Half, Brighton Marathon Weekend along with TCS Mini Marathon & TCS London Marathon.

Responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the Social Media Lead to develop ideas & deliver content plans leading up to Event Week for upcoming events
- Drafting copy for a wide range of posts across events & corporate channels
- Capturing & editing mobile phone content on-site at upcoming events
- Creating clear & concise content briefs for our in-house Creative team producing engaging video edits & social media graphics
- Collaborating closely with Media & partnerships team communicating major announcements via social media channels
- Working alongside external content creators run crews & community groups organizing exciting collaborations
- Identifying pitching external creatives diversifying published content across event channels
- Community management across event channels regarding outward engagement responding participant questions related upcoming events

An interest in running is not essential but can be beneficial. What is essential is an extensive knowledge of avid usership across an ever-expanding network of social media platforms along with understanding what types perform best among various audiences on each platform.

The successful candidate will join a busy agile collaborative MarComms team playing a vital role supporting key communications business priorities concerning 2025 2026 events while having opportunities working closely Communities Schools Engagement teams inspiring more activity through LME initiatives programs.

Essential Skills And Experience
- Four years + experience working within social media
- Strong understanding audience usage patterns focusing TikTok Instagram Facebook YouTube Strava latest formats adhering
- Excellent copywriting skills flair inspiring engaging audiences strong editorial skills sound understanding
- Ability confidently lead comms projects act expert productively collaborate internal external stakeholders
- Proven record building implementing effective programs
