Introduction and Background
This organisation is responsible for providing guidance and advice to all health and social care professionals across England and Wales. The primary users are health and social care professionals in England, patients, carers, and the public. To help people access the information they need quickly and easily, the organisation is reviewing how it produces and presents guidance and is undertaking programmes to increase internal operational efficiency to support this. This work is driven through the 'Connect Transformation Programme'.
Digital, Information and Technology Context
The Digital, Information and Technology (DIT) directorate uses analytics and insights to develop and maintain the organisation's suite of digital and technology services. The teams in DIT design, develop, and maintain the suite of externally facing digital services, as well as being responsible for the delivery and development of internal systems and IT operations.
About the Role
The organisation requires IT Infrastructure Specialists to join the IT Infrastructure team responsible for managing the high availability of the IT infrastructureand associated operational services in line withthe agreed Service Level Targets. The IT Infrastructure Specialists will work alongsidethe infrastructure team supportingthe existing infrastructure,optimiz ingexisting solutionsand processes,and supportingand developingcyber capabilities.They will also work with otherIT teams,suchasService Desk ,WebOps,andthe project deliveryteams to ensure close alignmentand engagementin implementingmajor developmentsandenhancementswithin existingIT infrastructure.
The core infrastructure primarily covers Office365 ,Active Directory,on-premise Windows servers ,Virtualisation (VMwareand Azure),anddata storage.The IT Infrastructure Teamis basedin Manchester officebut predominantly worksremotely.On occasion,youmay be askedtoattendManchester office ,with agreementfrom Associate Director.Travelto Manchester office wouldbe reimbursed/paidfor inlinewithorganisation's travel policyandonlywhenauthorisedby Associate Director.Subsistencewouldnotbepaidfor.

- Workingwithandsupportingthird partiesinprovidinginfrastructure services.
- MaintainingdependableITinfrastructureandnetworkingthat isalwaysavailable.
- Troubleshootingproblemsbyrunning diagnostics ,prioritising,andassessingtheimpactofissues,anddocumentingproblemsandre solutions.
- Workingindependently,havingahighlevelofdisciplinetomanageandtakeownershipoftechnical issues.
- Beingabletoanalysecomplextechnical problemsandagreeappropriate solutions,givensometimesconflictingrequirements .
- Beingabletocommunicatehighlycomplex technicalissuesandriskstonon -technicalbusinessstakeholdersexternal totheteam,bothverballyandinwriting .
- WorkingwithInfrastructureteamtobuildthesecurityofnewandexistinginfrastructuretoprotectinformationfromunauthorisedaccess ,disclosure ,disruption ,modification or destruction .
- Providing technical expertiseandinputintopolicies,guidance,andgovernanceforums .
- Contributingtoproblem-solving discussionsatcross-departmenttechnicalandestatearchitecture forums identifyingbest-fit solutions .
- Supportingdevelopmentandimplementationofbusinesscontinuityplanning,riskassessment,mana gement disaster recovery management,risk assessment,andmitigationtocyber,data,andsecurity threats .
Skills
Essential skills:
1.Microsoft Certified
2.SignificantdemonstrableexpertisewithPowerShellandscripting .
3.Significantexpertise knowledgeoftheWindowsServer Microsoft ActiveDirectory platform .
4.In-depthworkingknowledgeMicrosoftplatforms focusonIntune,M icrosoftExchangeOnline Office365supporttechnologies AzureActiveDirectory .
5.Strongexperienceconfiguringanti-malware,intrusiondetection firewalls,vulnerabilityscanning systems network security .
