At Rotating Machines Rugby (RMR), we design and build some of the most technically advanced electrical rotating machinery in the world. We specialise in manufacturing large electrical rotating machinery: Motors and Generators, across a wide variety of industrial applications. Our motors are powering some of the most advance warships in the world, whilst our generators are decarbonising industry for a more sustainable future. The Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Team is a part of the RMR Engineering Department and consists of a team of Manufacturing Engineers, responsible for development and implementation of new innovative manufacturing technologies. We drive improvements to execution, efficiency, and cost reduction through the continual implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques and innovative ideas- a key part of the scope of work. We also ensure all the prior preparations are in place so that new projects can be manufactured as efficiently as possible.

Job Description
Reporting to the Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Leader, the Lead Manufacturing Readiness Engineer is a key part of driving lean initiatives across the Manufacturing Readiness Team and the various manufacturing process areas to realise real world improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. They coach, drive and lead lean behaviors, principles, and tools across operational or functional areas. Drive cultural transformation resulting in step-change in operational business metrics.

What you will be doing as part of our team
- Primarily responsible as Lead Engineer for Pressing, Machining, Assembly and Testing Operations within RMR.
- Training and coaching less experienced staff to improve their autonomy and efficiency.
- Leading Capex investment projects from proposal/cost benefit analysis through to installation commissioning/handover.
- Leading Lean/Kaizen improvement studies to improve manufacturing efficiencies.
- Planning coordination; installation/commissioning new kit; equipment or contractor supervision.
- Driving Kaizen initiatives; tracking their impact/cost savings.
- Analysing/planning workflow; space requirements; equipment placement maximising manufacturing efficiency.
- Travelling as required to suppliers or other GE sites supervising work; leading projects or learning best practices applicable at RMR.
- Working cross functionally as part of global GE team ensuring customer satisfaction (both external/internal).

Who We Are Looking For
An experienced Engineer with strong Rotating machines Background proven leadership abilities leading change within our manufacturing organisation.

Qualifications:
- An engineer preferably with strong CAD Design skills Creo Teamcenter who can quickly model tooling concepts seeing them through detailed design.
- Demonstrable prior experience leading Lean initiatives.
- Capability setting meeting aggressive goals motivated driven continually improving self-starter reacting positively challenges.
- Excellent organizational time management leadership decision-making skills methodical worker focus attention detail structured approach well organised outstanding computer literacy knowledge design computer literate Word processing Excel Power point applications.
