Role Overview
Our leading investment banking client is seeking a Senior eTrading Java Algo Developer to join their team. The team specializes in providing innovative solutions for low touch, low latency trading.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance algorithmic trading systems.
- Implement FIX connectivity and low latency market connectivity.
- Develop and optimize smart order routing systems to ensure the best possible execution of trades.
- Work on algorithmic trading strategies and internal crossing mechanisms.
- Collaborate with traders and quants to translate trading concepts into code.
- Ensure technical proficiency in algorithmic trading software and hardware.
Areas of Focus
- Smart Order Routing: Develop systems that analyze multiple trading venues in real-time to select the best execution venue for orders, optimizing for price, liquidity, and fees[2][5].
- Algorithmic Trading: Utilize mathematical models for making transaction decisions in financial markets, determining the optimal time for order placement to minimize impact on asset prices[5].
- FIX Connectivity: Implement and maintain FIX protocol integration for high-frequency trading and other trading activities[3][4].
- Low Latency Market Connectivity: Ensure high-speed connectivity to various market data feeds and execution venues.
Desired Skills and Knowledge
- Strong proficiency in Java programming.
- Experience with equities, derivatives, and FIX protocol.
- Knowledge of low touch, low latency trading environments.
- Understanding of smart order routing and algorithmic trading concepts.
- Equities/Derivatives business knowledge is desirable but not essential.
Work Environment
- Contract position based in Central London.
