About The Role
We are extending the production test and validation capacity of our team in Edinburgh to support our ASIC product development roadmap. This opportunity will allow you to learn valuable skills from experienced engineers across several fields, and to build momentum in a career in ASIC development and test. In the first instance, this role will help you to gain skills and experience in production test, an area of ASIC development that is not widely taught in the UK, but that is in high demand among employers. In the second instance, the site in Edinburgh has teams across analogue, digital, radio frequency, and software design, verification, and validation, offering a lot of potential for future career growth.
Responsibilities
- Work with the ASIC engineering team to build design for testability (DFT) and design for manufacturability (DFM) requirements for efficient production testing that meets automotive quality standards
- Innovate test methods to optimise yield and test time to reduce cost without sacrificing quality
- Understand device technical operation and challenges and apply most appropriate test solution to meet device specification whilst keeping the cost down and not sacrificing due quality
- Develop test program code for multisite production testing and bench characterisation, evaluation and validation testing that meets test engineering industry coding standards
- Participate in test program code reviews to ensure better quality program releases
- Identify root cause and apply corrective action after fully validating the fix to test issues raised by the engineering team stages using company tracking system; work with product/design engineer on root cause analysis/implementation of corrective action
- Perform a complete measurement system analysis on parametric tests; fix issues that may arise
- Work with design team in creating/maintaining thorough/accurate documentation of test procedures
- Test/evaluate/characterise silicon design; create summary report/review with design/product engineers
- Test customer samples keeping track of all program/setup details for traceability
- Develop ATE hardware checker program to aid with quick troubleshooting/repairs of defective hardware in production
- Develop scripts that help with more efficient data processing/analysis/review
- Proactively work with test manager identifying requirements such as training/equipment/tools/instrument etc., for continuous development of self/group/company
- Work with quality manager testing RMA devices; participate in root cause analysis/create 8D reports
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills must be able to speak/write clear English

- A solid understanding of analogue/digital circuits operation/test methodologies
- Coding experience both procedural/object-oriented languages/willingness learn Python/VBA/Java
- Comfortable developing/test scripts bench testing automation
- Proficient Windows operating system/comfortable using Microsoft Office software
- Bachelor's degree Electronics/Electrical engineering/similar applicable field(s)
- Minimum 1 year experience semiconductor development/testing
Desirable:
- Python/VBA/C/or Java experience
- Experience revision control system (preferably Git)/standard software development flow
- Familiarity schematic capture/simulation industry standard tools e.g., Cadence Virtuoso
- Experience Advantest/Teradyne mixed signal testers/RF testing
- Experience industry standard project management tools Jira/Jama/Confluence
