Main Responsibilities & Accountability
- Production of a Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan prior to project commencement.
- Health and Safety to be planned and managed in conjunction with the support of the H&S Manager for a particular project.
- Ensure all relevant documents are in place, in line with company procedures, prior to any project starting on site.
- Monitoring quality and health and safety and welfare standards via regular site visits.
- Ensuring all accident, incident or near misses are reported on in a timely and efficient manner to Senior Management utilising current practices and procedures laid down.
- Identify the appropriate resource requirements for projects at an early stage and update and maintain for inclusion into the monthly reports (Divisional and/or Group as required).
- Schedule and maintain sufficient allocation of appropriate resource to all projects, in a timely manner.
- Taking part in Design Development meetings or chairing them as necessary.
- Chairing coordination & pre-let meetings with subcontractors to ensure smooth running of the project.
- Prepare for, attend, lead if required Project Progress Meetings with comprehensive progress reports as per company templates.
- Focus on ways to enhance the commercial value of the business by managing costs at site level; attending monthly CVR / Project Review meetings where practical.
- Ensuring that information is received timely via regular upkeep of RFI schedules.
- Managing relationships with the Design Team; heading Design Development on D&B Projects.
- Ensuring all pre-start planning conditions have been satisfied; establishing contact with Building Control.
- Create a PEP (Project Execution Plan) – utilising SML standard format ensuring PEP document is compiled timely for sign off by Divisional Director where required.
- Assess operational and commercial risks with Project Teams.
- Monitor training needs ensuring Project Delivery Teams are competent possessing relevant training for their roles.
- Monitoring control over programme, procurement schedule, environmental plan.
- Ensure correct processes are implemented achieving project completion within cost/time parameters; striving for zero defects.
- Conduct regular spot checks on adherence to project specifications, drawings, industry standards.
- Check validity of records held on Fieldwire for future reference.
- Report significant project risks immediately to Operational Manager/Divisional Lead ensuring delivery strategies align before communicating back management plans/commercial investments into projects.
- Write contractual notice letters alongside Commercial Manager per contract form used.

People Management Skills
- Manage compliance with Speller Metcalfe Employee Handbook.
- Ensure team members are fully skilled/trained including Health & Safety processes/procedures.
- Actively manage employee performance ensuring roles/responsibilities clearly defined/understood managing expectations/accountability at all levels.

Leadership & Values
- Champion development/training/ongoing education within team conducting regular one-to-one/performance reviews supporting employee growth/development needs.
