Description
Primary Function
The PET's primary function is to provide reactive and proactive lineside support to the Plant and to enable Wings to be delivered to the FALs. We also identify, investigate, provide technical solutions and deliver flow mods, significant mods and major mods for production easements. These include structural & systems modifications for rate, cost improvements and production & quality easements in the Plant, the FALs and the supply chain.
Team Overview
Within the Wing Plant Engineering Team (PET) we are looking to appoint a Design Authoriser who will be supporting the Wing Component Delivery Team (CDT). The successful applicant will be part of a fast-moving team who deliver high quality Design Support to meet the needs of the Plant. The team's function is to provide engineering solutions to all areas of Broughton Plant Manufacturing to ensure the achievement of their business objectives and product integrity while working with Manufacturing Engineering colleagues to promote a true MEET (Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Together) ethos.
Aspects of the Role
- Tangible Deliverables to Time, Cost and Quality
The job holder is responsible for leading design investigations and formulating technical solutions for a range of tasks, including Modifications to the Type Design, Design / Works Query Notes 'Flow Modifications' and nonspecific tasks ensuring that all Design, Airworthiness and safety requirements are met. Where appropriate liaising with other functions ensures a fully integrated design solution.
- Lead Role
The job holder will operate as a lead design engineer with an industry recognised design authorisation signatory acting as a strong focal point in leading and providing guidance on technical issues and governance. There is a clear requirement to lead the structural design process helping ensure an optimised design.
- Continuous Improvement
Strong support is required to drive ongoing continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing team efficiency through methods, processes, and other capability improvements while ensuring that robust lesson learnt feedback processes are maintained. Reporting on critical technical issues through functional management will also be required along with leading technical mentoring for engineering team members.
Main Activities
- Lead, guide approve or authorise design solutions for various tasks including Major/Minor Design Modifications.
- Provide technical leadership continued mentoring within engineering teams assisting in skill gap identification.
- Ensure compliance with design standards liaising across functions/projects.
- Operate as a designated signatory for design authorisation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives enhancing team efficiency.
- Build strong relationships between stakeholders such as CVE Chief Engineer Configuration Management Local Programmes Team enabling satisfactory designs supporting airworthiness type cert configuration management.
