Job Summary
This role is responsible for one of our most critical global categories, Lab Operations. The category has Executive Committee and Board level visibility given the criticality, risk and level of spend. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of partnering with business stakeholders to deliver value and support critical business objectives. They must be collaborative in nature with the ability to influence others and lead change. They must be highly analytical, a problem solver and an out-of-the-box thinker with the ability to develop market insights and implement tactics to simplify buying for the scientific community. They will bring innovative technology and solutions to CRL, identify trends and devise strategies to manage various market forces that drive risk and cost for CRL and the industry; understand global multimillion dollar spend categories; act as a strategic partner to functional areas within the company; drive overall best value sourcing strategies for categories (risk, quality, service and cost); rationalize supply base; negotiate contracts; manage supplier relationships (SRM); establish partnerships with key suppliers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop and implement global category sourcing strategies with business leads for assigned categories of products/services.
- Drive efficiency/simplification of procurement processes including consignment/vendor managed inventory solutions.
- Identify opportunities/lead cross-functional teams on projects delivering value across multiple sites/regions.
- Collaborate on developing business cases/influence stakeholders/manage change related to projects.
- Implement SRM with strategic suppliers/key suppliers utilizing analytics for effective procurement strategies.
- Stay current/informed on global market/category-based changes/technologies/trends ensuring maximum value delivery while maintaining quality/service.
- Work closely with suppliers identifying/managing/mitigating risks in supply chain; follow market conditions/collect vendor intelligence anticipating trends/developing mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with Procurement peers at corporate/site levels ensuring alignment on strategies/key projects within category.
- Develop/negotiate/manage global contracts including supply agreements/statements of work/quality specifications/agreement documents as appropriate.
- Foster senior-level relationships understanding/alignment with business strategy/direction prioritizing initiatives/harmonizing business/category strategies.
- Effectively communicate within/across departments/businesses ensuring information sharing/best practices aimed at breaking down silos.
- Manage supplier relationships serving as key contact for contract management/service level adherence ensuring appropriate relationship levels for strategic suppliers.
- Resolve disputes/commercial issues with suppliers alongside internal customers managing cost savings/performance measurement systems for supplier contracts where appropriate tracking/analyzing/reporting against investment proposals/capital expenditure/contracts spend commitments utilizing reporting procedures meeting internal needs (Finance/Legal/Purchasing/Audit).
- Analyze/develop/implement supplier reduction/tail spend consolidation strategies ensuring awareness/enforcement related process/policy working alongside Finance/legal/procurement/audit appropriately creating process documents/SOPs/work instructions as required leading sourcing projects through formal RFP/RFQ processes assuring success through attention/detail communication involved parties supporting equal employment opportunity policy through affirmative action personnel actions adhering regulatory requirements departmental policies/practices/procedures (SOPs/safety protocols).

Qualifications Profile And Requirements
Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in a related discipline. MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Experience:
6โ€“9 years relevant procurement experience preferably in life sciences company
2โ€“5 Year applicable strategic category experience in Lab categories such as supplies consumables reagents chemicals equipment life sciences etc.

Proven track record driving value through workstreams such as but not limited:
Tail spend consolidation
Punchout catalog implementation optimization
Best-in-class management global supplies/distributors
Implementation optimization scientific service exchanges

Strong data analytics

An equivalent combination education/expertise may be accepted satisfactory substitute specific education/expertise listed above.

Certification/Licensure: CPSM preferred.

Other: Excellent oral/written communication skills interpersonal analytical presentation influencing negotiation skills required possessing knowledge complex pricing arrangements/supplier profitability project management familiarity Lean Process Improvement concepts plus.
