Description

Our client Scottish Power Transmissions are currently recruiting for a Civil Site Manager to join their team across Southern Scotland on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Site Manager with a background in Civil Works as well as their SMSTS and full first Aid at works certs. They are particularly looking for candidates based in Edinburgh and East Lothian and may also consider candidates based in Northern England. For more information on this role please see below:

Role Overview
The Civil Site Manager role is a pivotal role within the Transmission Business with the responsibility for managing Construction outputs during the delivery phase of projects in the Edinburgh and East Lothian area.

Accountability Statements
• Lead the on-site management and delivery of contracted work. Manage the works acting as Client representative to ensure regulatory compliance with Health & Safety Law and CDM regulations 2015.
• Ensure Constructability and working methods are interpreted and aligned with Engineering Design scope, drawings, and standards, providing technical expertise and management of work packages.
• Oversee the commercial management and administration of each work package including measuring & monitoring of time and cost against agreed delivery strategy.
• Manage contracted works and collaborate with Transmission Planning and Operational teams to establish safe work practices and minimise the impact on the high voltage system.
• Establish and ensure robust Contractor quality management systems are created and monitored to ensure compliance with contract budget while increasing whole life asset whilst reducing OPEX.
• Ensure all Environmental Regulatory requirements are planned managed through contractor supply chain.
• Ensure Customer Stakeholder engagement is focussed with regular planning reporting updates.
• Drive agreed OFGEM regulatory targets for Sustainability Biodiversity.

Skills Knowledge Experience
• Significant experience managing transmission construction projects
• Ability understand civil structural design drawings inspection testing regimes associated
• Ability implement quality assurance environmental processes
• Skilled use PC Microsoft Software Applications planning organising works Power Points Word Excel Project able use digital forms communication TEAMS
• Primary proven knowledge experience specification design maintenance construction commissioning civil works within confines Transmission substation environment
• Excellent negotiation influencing skills
• Strong leadership planning skills
• Extensive experience knowledge current Health Safety legislation understand CDM 2015 regs duty holder roles notably delivering Principal Contractor/or Client role
• Proven ability lead work team contractor's environment
• Primary knowledge construction related activities including RAMS ITP's Hazard Identification Mitigation relevant standards specifications good understanding designs maintenance monitoring As-Built records H&S file preparation converter station civil related works underground cabling within converter station monitoring inspecting installation foundations steel structures ducts systems control buildings underground cables HV equipment's transformers associated installations cable sealing ends terminations fibre optic connections etc
* Proficient managing Temporary works site per BS5975
* In addition have experience application compliance GS6 HSG47 Temporary works
* Maintain good working relationships
* Have proactive flexible approach provide high degree autonomy during delivery phase project

- SP Energy Networks authorisations COMP APSA at Transmission Voltage

Minimum Criteria (mandatory)
Criteria
- 10 years' experience construction site Managing Client/PC Contractor
- Preferred HND Engineering Construction equivalent site management experience Power sector
- Excellent IT skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Current five-day SMSTS qualification equivalent
