MERITUS Talent are working with a leading industrial consultant who are recruiting for a Nuclear Engineering Manager on a contract basis to join their Reading site full time.

Summary of Role:
- Be the lead engineering representative on the project and the main point of contact for all engineering matters.
- Responsible for engineering delivery in terms of quality, compliance, meeting requirements, safety, value for money and schedule.
- Be the senior manager on the project for all engineering resources.
- Generate, validate and maintain a complete list of engineering deliverables ensuring they are delivered according to programme requirements.
- Ensure that Engineering Requirements are suitable & appropriate.
- Recommend budget and programme to Project Manager to deliver design.
- Assess suitability of internal/external design resources for facility design execution.
- Ensure adequate competency and competency records are maintained.
- Lead communication efforts regarding designs with due regard to safety, quality, schedule cost effectiveness and lifetime value for money.
- Maintain oversight of design development via routine reviews.
- Deliver design solutions that meet business needs while being licensable and deliverable.
- Manage Design Intent from inception through project handover.
- Provide functional support in identifying change implementation.

Essential Requirements:
1. Current SC Clearance
2. HNC/D
3. Formal Project Management/Delivery qualifications (e.g., MAPM)
Skills Required:
1. Delivery of cross-discipline Design packages in multi-discipline environments
2. Design information configuration control throughout project life cycle
3. Ability to write technical specifications/briefs
4. Multi-disciplinary Design leadership (technical/performance)
5. Experience delivering projects in high hazard environments (flammable/explosive/radioactive)
6. Managing external suppliers/in-house teams for Project design packages
7. Experience across all aspects of project life cycle including requirement establishment/problem definition; developing/designing solutions; configuration management/change control application
8. Extensive experience working within highly regulated environments (preferably nuclear/explosives)
9.Experience leading multi-discipline groups through asset life delivery
10.Experience within commercial frameworks such as New Engineering Contract
11.Knowledge across sub-functions like design/construction/commissioning/quality control within projects
12.Ability to deliver designs under Nuclear Site Licence conditions LC19/LC20/LC22
13.Experience working under CDM 2015 requirements
14.Willingness & ability obtain security clearance required
Knowledge Areas:
1.Knowledge about engineered plant/systems including Production/Process plant/equipment; Building Services; Utilities distribution & engineering
2.Experience with HAZOP process
Desirable Requirements:
1.Membership of an Engineering Institute at minimum level I Eng or equivalent
2.Engineering Degree (Hons)
3.Chartered Engineer or equivalent
