Contract Opportunity Overview
nexos have an outside IR35 contract opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer. This is a 12-month contract based in Aberdeen.
Key Responsibilities
- Executing structural engineering activities and ensuring technical quality is maintained within budget and schedule.
- Working in accordance with regulatory HSE & Quality requirements.
- Maintaining required technical quality of work, in accordance with originating, checking and approval procedures.
- Contributing to the effective communication between all relevant stakeholders β client, engineering and project teams, and the wider company leadership team and support functions.
- Providing design input into tenders and proposals, as required.
- Providing technical input into scopes of work, and preparing estimates, as required.
- Ensuring that assigned work is compliant to agreed budget and schedule.
- Preparing discipline deliverables (as appropriate) and providing input to multi-discipline deliverables.
- Checking/approval of discipline deliverables prepared by other team members.
- Ensuring compliance to applicable and current standards, regulations, codes and procedures.
- Maintaining regular contact and dialogue with the assigned Lead Engineer, in highlighting issues, concerns or areas for improvement.
- Providing technical expertise to the resolution of technical queries; ensuring that all design changes are captured by the change control process.
Qualifications & Skills Required
To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate:
- Degree qualification in a relevant engineering subject.
- Modular build experience: Substation, LERβs Accommodation etc within offshore/onshore environments.
- Technical competence in concept FEED detailed design of steel structures.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of relevant design codes standards (e.g., Eurocodes AISC DNV etc.).
- Proven track record of effectively leading a team of engineers/designers.
- Competence in ensuring quality of work delivery to agreed schedules.
- Competence in the use of relevant engineering analysis calculation software (e.g., STAAD.Pro Mathcad any other relevant packages).
- Competence in commercial contractual administrative aspects of engineering.
