Construction Manager

Location: HOMERTON HOSPITAL
Shift Hours: 8-Hour Shifts (Between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with potential shift variations to 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM as the project progresses)
Contract Type: Full-time
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-profile hospital refurbishment project. This is a critical role, responsible for managing the execution of the construction activities, ensuring that the project meets its deadlines, budgets, and quality standards. As the Senior Construction Manager, you will be at the forefront of ensuring a safe and efficient working environment while leading a dedicated team through all stages of construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Lead and manage the entire refurbishment project, ensuring that all construction work is completed to the highest standard and within the allocated timeframes.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and manage subcontractors, site personnel, and other relevant stakeholders. Ensure efficient collaboration across teams, fostering a proactive and solutions-oriented culture.
- Health and Safety: Maintain a strong focus on safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations and promoting a zero-incident work environment.
- Fit-Out Expertise: Oversee and provide expert guidance on fit-out procedures, including installation of interior elements like ceilings, partitions, flooring, MEP systems, and finishes. Ensure timely and accurate execution of these works.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor quality control across all stages of the project by conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to project specifications and building codes.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as primary point of contact for all project stakeholders including client architects engineers subcontractors. Provide regular updates on project progress while resolving any issues that arise.
- Scheduling & Resource Management: Coordinate scheduling work to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations while maintaining overall project timelines. This includes planning for potential shift changes (7 AM – 5 PM or 2 PM – 9 PM).
- Technology & Reporting: Utilize field management software (specifically FieldView) to track progress document site activities generate reports. Use platform facilitate communication workflow across all phases.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as Senior Construction Manager or Project Manager ideally with experience in hospital or healthcare facility refurbishments.
- Strong expertise in fit-out procedures including detailed knowledge hospital-specific requirements such as sterile areas infection control critical infrastructure systems.
- In-depth understanding construction processes scheduling cost management quality control.
- Experience with FieldView or similar field management software tracking progress reporting.
- Strong leadership communication skills ability motivate team collaborate stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding health safety regulations within industry particularly healthcare environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills ability identify resolve issues quickly efficiently.
- Ability manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standard quality efficiency.
Desirable Qualifications:
- A relevant degree qualification in construction management civil engineering related field.
- Professional certifications health safety project management construction management (e.g., SMSTS PMP NEBOSH).
