The Opportunity
We are looking for a senior front end Shopify engineer to join our engineering team within VML Enterprise Solutions. You will be working with a large ecommerce company in the global nutrition space on a greenfield re-platform project to Shopify.
What You'll Be Doing
- Creating high quality production-ready front-end code with Shopify
- Creating reusable Shopify components and theme areas
- Drive forward the quality - in code, unit testing, accessibility, performance; code reviews
- Ensure a smooth connection with Marketing Tools; Platform APIs; and Shopify Apps to optimise the shop for overall efficiency and functionality
- Deliver on an Agile workstream of front-end developers on a project; contributing to daily stand-ups; sprint planning; and estimates
- Build modular layouts; reusable code; libraries for future use
- To be comfortable representing front-end in a client-facing capacity
- Collaborating with technical and non-technical colleagues to escalate issues & highlight any areas that need wider team action
- Cooperate with design & marketing teams to gather & refine specifications & requirements for development
- Be involved in existing & new integrations for the platform
- Full end-to-end ownership from idea to delivery covering ongoing maintenance expansion & scaling
- Stay current with evolving standards & technologies learning new skills as needed
- Support of recruitment process in technical tests & team fit assessments
What we want from you:
Mastery of semantic HTML5 CSS3 (SASS or LESS) JavaScript (ES6+) adhering to industry defined coding standards
Solid understanding of Agile methodology i.e., Story point estimation refinement sprint planning retrospective sprint demos
Extensive experience with Shopify platform Liquid templating engine solving bespoke customer issues
A desire to write readable maintainable modular extendable code
Commercial experience using GIT large development team performing Continuous Integration
Excellent communication skills capability interact directly team stakeholders
Proficient understanding fluid responsive layouts cross-browser cross-device compatibility issues
Commercial experience unit testing/End-to-End testing/regression testing (we use Jest Cypress)
Familiarity modern front-end build pipelines tools such as Grunt webpack
Have working knowledge third-party services APIs well as Shopify plugins
Willingness contribute both large complex projects smaller tasks directed
Great attitude self-motivated strong work ethic strong ownership
If you know some of this even better:
Commercial experience building headless solutions e.g., SPA PWA applications
Experience building rapid prototype
Experience Type Checking language either Flow TypeScript (we use TypeScript)
Experience working Java/Node/C#/PHP projects beneficial
Experience mentoring junior members team
