Main Purpose of Job:
The primary objective of this role is the management of large business projects, encompassing both development of systems and the delivery of business change.
The Senior Project Manager is expected to be an experienced and qualified Project Manager who is able to manage issues, build relationships with team members and direct tasks in order to deliver projects to required standards of quality, within agreed budgets and timescales.
The individual is comfortable dealing with projects of different scale and complexity and have experience across the full project life cycle.
They will manage their own workload and that of others and provide line management, support and guidance for less experienced colleagues.
Responsibilities of the Job:
Perform day-to-day control of a large project or multiple smaller projects including preparing and presenting progress/issues/budget to the appropriate steering committee.
Provide estimates of workload and costs for activities and tasks within a project or sub-project
Ensure that projects meet user requirements in accordance with agreed standards of quality and service.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within each of the business areas that their projects cover
Liaise with third parties to agree responsibilities for deliverables and track progress against milestones
Contribute to good customer service by ensuring the seamless transition of a project from initiation, through detailed planning and design, to implementation.
Provide on-the-job training to and motivate other team members, providing support, guidance and assistance as required to those less experienced in order to meet project objectives.
Be aware of or be prepared to learn the main requirements of relevant legislation. Occasionally assist with the analysis and documentation of business requirements.
Produce test strategies and test plans in conjunction with the users and test team. Oversee user acceptance testing.
Job Knowledge:
SOME EXPERIENCE OF ZENDESK IS REQUIRED
Capable of running large projects, up to c.£4 million, and with multiple workstreams.
Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and processes
Project financial management and reporting
Capable of prioritising and influencing others regarding conflicting interests.
Assertive and diplomatic in your dealings with others.
Positively work with others to achieve project outcomes.
Problem Solving:
Experienced in taking ownership of issues impacting project delivery and managing them through to resolution, minimising the impact on project objectives
Uses judgement and experience to identify the problems and issues with greatest impact on the project
Knows when and how to escalate and who to involve from across the business and other organisations, to gain buy in and to expedite resolution
Creative thinking to put forward relevant and viable options to solve problems
Harnesses the combined skills and knowledge of the project and wider teams to contribute to problem resolution
Identifies costs, constraints and limitations of different solution options before selecting and committing to an option, displaying confidence in the decision when challenged

Strong written and verbal communication skills, up to Executive Director level.
Employ a broad range of communication techniques.
Show empathy with their audience and is able to decide upon the most effective communication method.
