AWS DevOps Engineer – Public Sector (SC Cleared Preferred)
Location: Newcastle on site 2 days a week and 3 days remote
Contract Type: 12 months
Salary: £500-600 depending on leadership skills
We are looking for a highly skilled AWS DevOps Engineer to join our team in a Public Sector environment, where you will play a key role in leading and growing a talented team. Your technical expertise will directly contribute to the success of our client's mission, and your leadership will inspire others to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a dynamic team of DevOps engineers, helping them grow their skills and develop their careers.
Drive the implementation and management of AWS-based infrastructure and services.
Oversee the use of API Gateway or Kong for API management and integration.
Leverage your expertise in GitLab CI and Terraform to automate deployments and infrastructure provisioning.
Collaborate with application teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment using Helm and Kubernetes.
Support the adoption of best practices for AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
Work in a highly collaborative environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
Essential Skills:
AWS experience (heavy usage in the role).
Hands-on experience with Kong or API Gateway for API management.
Proficiency in GitLab CI and Terraform for CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
Experience with Helm and Kubernetes to support app teams in deploying and managing applications.
Excellent leadership and mentoring skills—you will be helping grow the next generation of engineers.
SC Cleared or eligible for clearance is highly preferred.
Desirable Skills:
Previous experience public sector bodies.
A background in networking is beneficial but not essential.
