Position Summary
The purpose of this role is to ensure that all products produced at Tate & Lyle Sugars (TLS) London site meet the highest standards of food safety and quality while ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements using experience gained in the food industry to define best practices.
Position Responsibilities
- Strong leadership and day-to-day management of a medium-size team including Quality Assurance, Quality Systems and Laboratory.
- Ability to develop the Quality function into a high functioning autonomous team.
- Continuous development of site Quality Culture which is a primary focus for ASR / TLS.
- Maintain/develop site Quality Management Systems & Food Safety Plan to meet all ASR / TLS customer/regulatory policies or requirements.
- Member of Incident Management Team providing leadership for food safety/quality matters.
- Work with Operations team/supporting functions to ensure good manufacturing practices are maintained delivering high standards for BRC/customer/regulatory audits.
- Deliver continuous improvement in food safety/quality standards through existing/new technology.
- Manage quality assurance relationships with customers/regulatory authorities ensuring 100% compliance with food safety/regulatory requirements.
- Responsible as site lead for audits conducted by BRC/customers/certification schemes (Kosher/Halal/Organic/Animal Feed) & regulatory authorities.
- Implement quality systems/corrective action plans that deliver ASR corporate quality KPIs while reducing customer/consumer complaints; drive culture minimizing product waste/sustainability/environmental impacts.
- Responsible for setting/maintaining budget/cost centre for site quality team; manage laboratory conducting analytical testing/reporting on raw supply/in-process samples/final products.
- Functional lead supporting New Product Development & Project Engineering activities aiding successful launch new products/processes; act as customer point contact for product food safety/quality matters/KPI scorecard meetings; collaborate cross-site with other Quality leads through European Quality Team Meetings.
Work Experience Requirements
Currently working as Technical Manager within food/drink industry; experience supplying retailer own-label products; experience within best-in-class quality environment understanding excellent quality indicators; lead auditor qualification Level 3โ4 HACCP.
